Montien Riverside Bangkok Review

Open since 1994, Montien Riverside Hotel is the youngest sibling of Montien Hotel Thailand. Located in the rapidly-growing Rama III area adjoining the Riverside, the hotel is far removed from the chaotic rush of downtown Bangkok, yet in close proximity to the city's popular business, shopping and entertainment attractions.

In addition to its desirable location on the banks of the Chao Phraya River are friendly service, a full range of impressive facilities and restaurants serving a mouthwatering selection of cuisine. A shuttle bus service takes guests to a nearby Skytrain station on the hour.

'Montien' in Thai means royal residence; a place of grandeur and opulence fit for royalty. Montien Riverside Hotel is perfectly worthy of the name with its 27-storey glass-fronted atrium and immaculately white exterior. With natural light invited through glass panes, the lobby is spacious and airy, accentuated by lofty European-style columns, a ceiling so high it makes one dizzy to look up, and an easy-on-the-eye colour scheme.

Despite its apparent vastness, the floor is sufficiently staffed - from the reception down to the bell boy counter. On the right hand side is a Bakery Shop and a couple of escalators leading up to function rooms.
A Tour Desk and arcade with small shops selling all kinds of souvenirs and knick-knacks are located in the left wing. Staff, graciously dressed in traditional attire, are quick to offer exceptional service, exemplifying Montien's concept of 'The Spirit of Thai Hospitality'.

The cleverly-designed Y-shaped building makes terrific river views possible from all rooms and suites; 462 of them, all of which are superbly appointed. Room types comprise of Superior Room, Deluxe Room, Executive Room, Executive Suite, Family Suite, Queen Suite, King Suite and Corner Room.

Executive Room guests enjoy extra touches of luxury and executive benefits with a butler service, complimentary breakfast and cocktail hour at the Executive Lounge (free snacks and drinks). Wi-Fi Internet access is available in rooms (costs extra). Bathrooms are large with separate bath and shower - rounded off by a full range of bathroom amenities.

For couples or honeymooners, Corner Rooms are highly recommended as they afford fantastic river views. Health-conscious guests will love the hotel's fully-equipped fitness centre with certified personal trainer on duty, tennis courts, outdoor swimming pool, sauna, steam and massage rooms. Also on offer are six different function rooms perfect for any event from a conference to a wedding.

Guests at Montien Riverside Hotel have a hard time deciding what to eat, as the hotel offers numerous restaurant outlets - including 24-hour The Cafe (International), Sai-Chol (Thai-Vietnamese), Sala Rimnam (al fresco BBQ - weather permitting), The Emperor (Chinese) and Harbour View (Italian).

Each restaurant has a monthly/seasonal promotion which features exclusively-made dishes not usually available at any other time of the year. If you're feeling peckish between meals, opt for fresh-out-of-the-oven pastries at the hotel's famous Bakery Shop. With a cup of coffee or tea, they make for the perfect afternoon snack.

Looking for some entertainment? Make your way to Sonic Karaoke, a karaoke facility featuring ten private rooms catering up to 30 people. Or if you prefer to listen rather than sing, great live music and an extensive selection of cocktails, wines and beers can be enjoyed at the Lobby Lounge, located one level below the lobby, overlooking a lush garden.

For an intimate dining experience, guests are welcomed on Montienthip, a converted river barge that will take you on an elegant cruise along the Chao Phraya River whilst enjoying a delicious set menu (Thai or Western), the sounds of the Thai 'khim' instrument and traditional dance show.

Besides the excellent service and hospitality it is renowned for, Montien Riverside Hotel's wide range of well-appointed accommodation and facilities cater to every guest's needs and requirements - be it for business or pleasure.

Surrounded by famous shopping chains like Central (Central Rama III) and HomePro, the hotel also enjoys convenient access to an expressway (45 minutes travel time to reach Suvarnabhumi International Airport). Getting to, from and around the city is made easy by the hotel's daily complimentary shuttle bus service to downtown and Saphan Taksin BTS station at Sathorn Pier.

If you're looking for an authentic and hospitable experience in a scenic and relatively convenient location, here's an option definitely worth considering.
